Bramble's Edge Farm is situated on 7.4 acres SE of Rose Hill, Kansas. Our shed is the on-site market and is open Saturdays in May, adding Tuesdays in June until October.
Robert is a retired Air Force colonel. Farming is his next career. Debbie is the market manager and updates our Facebook page and the website. She also makes the soaps and cleaners. Both of us are KU grads. Living here is Robert's son Alan; our amazing chicken tender, Nan (Great Pyrenees/Lab) and Kelsey, the kitty queen of the farmhouse.
We grow traditional vegetables like lettuces and cabbages, tomatoes, onions, garlic, okra, asparagus and pumpkins. We also have a pick-it-yourself herb and mint garden with several raised beds. Finally, we grow flowers of all kinds. Sunflowers, zinnias and gladiolas are some of the most beautiful cut flowers. Our raspberries and strawberries are coming in nicely and should provide for tasty treats in 2021.
We started with a few chicks in January 2018. The breeds we have now are Barred Rock, Silkies, Polish, Polkies, Americana, Copper Marans, Cuckoo Marans, Whiting Green, Whiting Blue, Jersey Giant, Cochin, Silver Lace Wyandotte, Olive Eggers and Easter Eggers. We sell eggs to eat, fertilized eggs and chicks of all ages.
We love our customers, so feel free to visit during normal business hours. Our market is open Tuesdays and Saturdays during the growing season. It is closed now until mid-May 2021.
